For the first /r/KetoNYC meatup I think I've got the perfect place. It's a bit pricey, but it's the perfect splurge to go all out on a keto binge. The place is Churrascaria Plataforma, a Brazilian steakhouse on West 49th between 8th and 9th. It's an all you can eat steakhouse, the kind where they give you a "chip" that is red on one side, green on the other. If you have the green side facing up, they keep bringing you more meat until you turn it to red.
I want to go here because it's the closest thing a ketoer can do to a cheat meal - we can blow past our daily caloric limit while still staying in ketosis.
Like I said, it's a bit pricey at $62.95 per person, but I think it's totally worth it. I've been wanting to go here for quite a while, and think it would be an awesome inaugural meal to kick off a KetoNYC dining club.
I haven't set any date yet, I'm just throwing this out there to gauge interest. Once we get some people into the subreddit we can think about actually pursuing events like this, (but as of right now, day 2 of the sub's existence, there are only 5 subscribers and I'm the only one who has posted or commented so far).
Here's the list of meats available for ALL YOU CAN EAT:
CARNES / BEEF
PORCO / PORK
CARNEIRO / LAMB
FRANGO / CHICKEN
PERU / TURKEY
FRUTOS DO MAR / SEAFOOD
I've searched extensively online, and was surprised to find that there aren't really any low-carb/keto restaurants in New York City, a place where you'd expect to find at least one of everything, so I've had to make do with finding the keto friendly options or requesting substitutions to menu items. I've found a few places with awesome options and have gotten good at knowing how to request substitutions to fit my diet.
So what are some of the restaurants you like to go to, and what are your favorite keto-friendly options that they have?
